Glamourati Coterie

Starting next Monday I am going to start a blog series titled, “Glamourati Coterie.”

This idea came to me one day while I was reading another blog where they highlighted, briefly, a handful of fashion magazine editors. I thought it was an original idea but wanted to read and learn more about each one. So I’ve decided to take the task on for myself and my blog.

I love the idea of digging around researching these particular editors. Discovering how each one operates is exciting to me.

I’m always up for learning something new and reading about other peoples’ success is always an opportunity to be educated.

Here are the following editors I hope to put the spotlight on every Monday over the next 15 weeks:

  • Joanna Coles, Marie Claire
  • Linda Wells, Allure
  • Ariel Foxman, InStyle
  • Lorraine Candy, Elle
  • Cynthia Leive, Glamour
  • Marvin Scott Jarrett, Nylon
  • Glenda Bailey, Harper’s Bazaar
  • Brandon Holley, Lucky
  • Noah Callahan-Bever, Complex
  • Summer Bellessa, Eliza
  • Luis Barajas, Flaunt
  • Kim Hastreiter and David Hershkovits, PAPER
  • Bo Nicole Capener, Runway
  • Stephen Gan, V
  • Stefano Tonchi, W

I’ve already done some reading and research on the first editor I want to feature; Joanna Coles, Editor-in-Chief for Marie Claire magazine. I have to tell you, I’m rather impressed that she puts her email out there on the pages of the magazine for all to see. Of course I do realize that some intern probably catches all the incoming email, still, I bet Anna doesn’t display her email on the pages of Vogue. You’ll notice she is missing from my list. I didn’t include her because she is already so well-known and for the purpose of this series I wanted to draw the attention to other editors. I have nothing against Anna Wintour, in fact, I adore her. But really, what can I write about her that hasn’t already been written? Exactly.

Yeah, this is going to be fun learning about the different editors and their “style” of operation. I hope you’ll enjoy the reads too. I promise not to make it some long and in-depth project. My posts on each editor will be fun and easy reading, of course.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for the Glamourati Coterie (Part 1 of 15) next Monday!
